形態特徵

• Perennial with elongated stolons terminated by a small tuber. Culms many, tufted, 40-80 cm tall, 3-5 mm thick, terete, transversely septate, intersepta empty, deeply green, somewhat shiny.
• Basal sheaths few, 3-20 cm long, membranaceous, usually colored with red-brown, truncate at orifice.
• Spikelet cylindrical, 2-5 cm long, 3-4 mm wide, subobtuse at apex, terete, subdensely many-flowered, whitish to stramineous.
• Glumes elliptic to elliptic-oblong, 5-6 mm long, obtuse or rounded-truncate at apex, herbaceous or chartaceous, whitish, broad greenish dorsal part weakly ridged with 1 costa, hyaline margins narrow Achenes obovate, 2-2.2 mm long, biconvex, yellow-brown, shiny, faintly cancellated with isodiametrical epidermal cells; style 7-8 mm long, slender, upper half 2-fid, base depressed-crescentiform, 2/3 its width of achene. Hypogynous bristles 6-8, unequal, filiform, surpassing achene, retrorsely scabrous.

• 台灣 : In paddy fields and shallow streams.
• 世界 : Tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia and Pacific Islands.
